Marushin M1 Garand

Marushins gas blowback 8mm BB Garand is currently the only “officialy” available airsoft M1 Garand. Performance with 134a gas is acceptable but nothing that can compete with good gas powered rifles from the likes of Tanaka. Like the real gun you load the Garand by pulling the bolt back and pushing in a clip from the top. Each clip holds 8 8mm BBs. The blowback kicks nicely and once empty the clip is ejected. This looks great but it is one of the reasons why this gun is not very well suited for airsoft gaming. Have fun searching for your clips! It’s a pity that there is no “pling!” when the clip is ejected, even if you use the more expensive metal ones. The hop up is very sensitive and difficult to adjust (you need an allen key to do so). If it is too loose the BBs will just roll out of the barrel, if it is just slightly to hard the BBs will curve at terrible angles. The wood parts look nice but are of questionable quality,  they are almost as light as balsa wood and are very soft. I replaced the Marushin Stock with a real steel one. It needs a bit of dremel work but is not very difficult to do.
If you want to shoot a few cans,  want a nice looking Garand for Battledisplay or hanging on the wall go for the Marushin. If you want one you can actually play with you will have to wait until another manufacturer will FINALLY decide to produce a decent airsoft M1 Garand. It’s a real mystery to me why no one has done so so far. I am sure those would sell like crazy.

There is also shorter “tanker” version of the Marushin Garand. This must be one of the most useless airsoft guns ever released my Marushin. The short version of the Garand (which was not even intended for tanker use!) was never developed past prototype stage.

Metal clip on the right, plastic on the left. Plastic clips can easily be damaged by hitting hard surfaces after being ejected.

  1. I bet this thing costs as much as the real rifle. I would love to try one out, but I don’t hang out with anyone who has airsoft stuff…

  2. Owned mine for 3 years, and besides replacing the little brass bit on the hammer and having clips 3d printed, it still runs and hits like a damn tank. Mine is the full sized Limited Edition with the darker wood.
