Russian soldiers with captured Japanese flags

Close to the end of WW2, on August 9, 1945, the “Soviet-Japanese War of 1945” began with the Soviet invasion of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo. The Soviets conquered Manchukuo, Mengjiang (inner Mongolia), northern Korea, southern Sakhalin, and the Kuril Islands. Here is a very cool photo showing Russian soldiers with captured Japanese good luck flags (Hinomaru yosegaki)!
