Sportswear reg. “Guam Shirt”

The PTO is everywhere πŸ™‚ Came across this nice shirt by chance. It was on sale at a shop that i usually don’t visit often, guess all the annoying hipsters there didn’t know what they are looking at. At 50% off it was hard to say no, so now it’s mine 😎 It’s styled like a souvenir shirt that a soldier might have bought in the 1940s

It is made by the Italian company “Sportswear reg.“. Has a real cool vintage / hand painted look and the construction quality is excellent

Now I only need the damn winter gone… πŸ‘Ώ

  1. I live in the U.S. and I am trying to pick up some of these vintage style T-shirts. Do you have a copy of an original issued T-shirt (1940’s) to compare it to? Or possibly an Eastman Leather USN White – T to compare? Thoughts?

If possible could you let me know how to attain a shirt?

    • Hi Matt,

I have a few plain white vintage style shirts, but not the one from Eastman Leather unfortunately. I guess i need to get me one at some point. The ones by “Levi’s Vintage Clothing” (different from the regular Levi’s stuff) and “The Real McCoy’s” are excellent, should not be too hard to find the Levi’s ones in the US. Like the Eastman shirt they are pricy though.

As for comparison to original shirts, I once had an original USMC shirt (still kicking myself for letting go of it) and from memory i would say the “Levi’s Vintage” 1930s shirt was quite close. Most vintage style shirts are more based on the late 40s/50s sportswear shirts rather then the WW2 USMC / Navy Shirt.

PS: few years ago I would have considered everybody who spends more then a few bucks on a white t-shirts nuts, times change πŸ˜†

  2. Hi great t-shirt and you are correct, the PTO style clothing seems to be in fashion at the moment. Have you seen the latest Carhartt camo gear? It looks very familiar. Google Carhartt Sid Blazer and look out for the PTO camo versions!

    • Hi! Yes you are right! A Carhartt flagship store is very close to where i work and i saw their new camo gear there πŸ™‚ very tempting… πŸ˜€
