The Fighting Lady

“The Fighting Lady” is a documentary from 1944, it won the “Best Documentary” Oscar in 1945. Director Edward Steichen spent several months aboard an aircraft carrier documenting the lives of the crew, the movie culminates in the massive battle of the Philippine Sea. Only after the war the carrier was identified as the USS Yorktown. Yes, it’s a “morale boosting” movie but still very cool! Not only action footage but very interesting daily business on the carrier as well, all in fantastic Technicolor!

The movie is in public domain, you can watch it in full here:

If you switch to 480p quality is quite OK.
