USMC Voice-O-Gram

Here is a neat little item, a USMC themed “Voice-O-Gram” record. There have been quite a few up for sale recently, guess somebody found a stash of those 😀

So what is a “Voice-O-Gram”? A “Voice-O-Gram” is basically an audio message that was recorded live on a 6″ record in a little booth (the “Voice-O-Graph”). This way soldiers could send a personal message to their families and loved ones back home, kind of the WW2 version of a WhatsApp voice message 😉

Note sure what they are made of, seems to be some kind of laminated cardboard. The additional hole was for securing the record during the recording process.

There is a name written in pencil on one side but unfortunately it is illegible. I cannot make out most part of the recording as the recording quality is quite poor and the voices (seems to be a woman and a kid) speak with a very heavy southern accent.
