Raider Boots

You might have heard about the special boots that were used by some Marine Raiders especially during their earlier actions. They are mentioned in veteran accounts and books, mostly reffered to as civilian work boots or logger boots. Finding photographic evidence of these is very difficult.

But check this out: “Natives report to the Raiders the presence of small Japanese patrols”

aaaaand inspecting the photo closely you can see what seems to be a… Raider Boot!

Bougainville / Torokina. Take a look at the bottom of the photo

Here is a photo taken at a Museum that i had saved, forgot the source unfortunately

So the boots used were indeed “lace-to-toe” work boots. I always wanted Raider Boots for reenactment and tried to find some lookalike “heritage” work boots. Redwing, Chippewa and even high end stuff like Viberg, but no luck so far. Some look somewhat similar but I haven’t been able to bring myself to spend 300-500$+ on too big of a compromise… XD and so the hunt continues šŸ˜‰
